The minimum load required for the ADPL54203 to maintain good output voltage regulation typically does not exceed 0.5% of its full output power.

 

To avoid preloading, the Analog Devices EVAL-ADPL54203-AZ employs a 5.6V Zener diode between VOUT+ and VOUT– as the minimum load. Transformer leakage inductance generates voltage spikes on the primary side after power shutdown. To confine leakage inductance spikes within the MOSFET's 60V rating, an RC snubber and TVS clamp are installed to suppress ringing and clamp the MOSFET drain voltage to a safe level.
