Mingjiada Supply NXP MK10DN512 100MHz, Kinetis K10 Mixed-Signal Integration Microcontrollers Based On Arm Cortex-M4 Core

Against a backdrop of ever-increasing demands for real-time processing capabilities and analogue signal integration in industrial automation, motor control, portable medical devices and embedded sensing systems, mixed-signal microcontrollers based on the ARM Cortex-M4 core have become key components in bridging the gap between digital control and analogue sensing. The MK10DN512, part of NXP’s Kinetis K10 series, combines the DSP processing capabilities of the Cortex-M4 core with a rich array of integrated mixed-signal peripherals, making it suitable for embedded designs that require a balance between computational performance and analogue interfaces. Mingjiada Electronics has long supplied the NXP MK10DN512 series of microcontrollers, providing device supply and selection support for relevant projects.

MK10DN512 is a mixed-signal integrated microcontroller from NXP’s Kinetis K10 series. Based on the ARM Cortex-M4 core, it supports floating-point operations and DSP instructions, making it suitable for control algorithms, filtering operations and real-time signal processing tasks. This model is equipped with 512 KB of flash memory, catering to embedded applications requiring substantial programme storage space. The Kinetis® K10 100 MHz reference MCU features high-precision analogue integration and advanced serial communication capabilities, making it suitable for ePOS systems, flow meters, game controllers, HVAC systems and remote sensors.

MK10DN512 Core Feature Details:
Ultra-low power consumption
- 10 low-power modes, providing power and clock gating, enabling optimised peripheral activity and recovery times. Quiescent current <2 µA, operating current <350 µA/MHz, wake-up time from stop mode 4 µs
- Full memory and analogue operations are maintained even when the operating voltage drops to 1.71 V, extending battery life
- Low-leakage wake-up unit with up to 8 built-in modules and 16 pins, serving as a wake-up source for Low-Leakage Stop (LLS) mode and Very Low-Leakage Stop (VLLS) mode
- Low-power timers support continuous system operation in low-power states
Flash memory, SRAM and FlexMemory
- 128 KB–512 KB flash memory. Supports fast access, offers high reliability and provides four levels of security protection
- 32 KB–128 KB SRAM
Mixed-signal features
- Two high-speed 16-bit analogue-to-digital converters (ADCs) with configurable resolution. Operating in single-ended or differential output modes, they enhance noise rejection. A conversion time of 500 ns can be achieved using the programmable delay module’s trigger function
- Two 12-bit digital-to-analogue converters (DACs) capable of generating analogue waveforms for audio applications
- Three high-speed comparators that provide fast and accurate motor overcurrent protection by placing pulse width modulation (PWM) into a safe state
- An analogue reference voltage provides precise reference values for the analogue modules, ADCs and DACs, replacing external reference voltages and reducing system costs
Performance
- Arm® Cortex®-M4 core with DSP, 100 MHz clock, single-cycle MAC and Single Instruction, Multiple Data (SIMD) extensions
- Up to 16-channel DMA for peripherals and memory, reducing CPU load and enabling faster system throughput
- Cross-switching supports concurrent multi-master bus access, increasing bus bandwidth
- Independent flash memory banks allow code execution and firmware updates to run concurrently, without compromising performance or requiring complex coding routines

Typical Applications
The MK10DN512 series is suitable for industrial control and automation equipment, motor drives and motion control, portable medical instruments, smart sensor nodes, consumer electronics, and embedded systems requiring mixed-signal processing capabilities. In motor control applications, the Cortex-M4 core handles computational tasks such as field-oriented control, whilst on-chip analogue peripherals are used for current sampling and fault detection; in industrial sensing and data acquisition scenarios, the integrated mixed-signal functionality helps to reduce the number of external components and improve system integration.
