The F280049 is a high-performance 32-bit real-time microcontroller (MCU) from Texas Instruments’ (TI) C2000™ Piccolo™ series, designed specifically for applications with extremely stringent real-time requirements, such as industrial motor drive control, digital power management and renewable energy systems. The F280049 features TI’s 32-bit C28x DSP core, operating at a clock speed of up to 100 MHz. Combined with an IEEE 754 single-precision floating-point unit (FPU) and a trigonometric unit (TMU), it significantly accelerates motor control and digital power algorithms such as Park/Clarke transformations and torque-loop calculations. The TMU can accelerate common trigonometric operations from 3x to 4x the clock cycle.

2. Dedicated Control Law Accelerator (CLA)

The CLA integrated into the chip is a 32-bit floating-point maths accelerator independent of the main CPU, also operating at a clock speed of 100 MHz, capable of executing code in parallel with the main CPU. This architecture allows critical control loops to be offloaded to the CLA, effectively offloading the CPU’s computational load and doubling the system’s control performance.

3. High-Precision Analogue and PWM Peripherals

Three 12-bit ADCs: support up to 21 external channels, feature synchronous sample-and-hold capability, and are ideally suited for three-phase current/voltage detection

16 high-resolution PWM (HRPWM) channels: precision down to the 150 ps level, supporting dead-time control, phase shifting and fault protection, suitable for complex power supply topologies

Integrated Programmable Gain Amplifiers (PGAs): The analogue front-end incorporates seven PGAs, supporting on-chip voltage-controlled amplification, thereby reducing the need for external components
